The Valley of Vinales is one of the best know areas of Cuba. It is located in the Sierra de los Órganos in the province of Pinar del Río. This territory extends for approximately 132 km2 is consider as a National Monument and protected by Cuban government. This geologic marvel has its origins – according to the specialists – in the Carboniferous Period with more than 300 million years age. The characteristics most distinguish this place are the Mogotes, mountains with rounded summits and atypical forms, not usually seen around the world. In the whole area of the Valley is appreciated an excellent mixture of the natural beauty with the conservation and man’s work. Thanks to this, the Valley of Vinales is inscribed in the World Patrimony List of UNESCO since 1st December 1999. It is visited annually by thousands of nature lovers.
