The Iglesia Mayor Santísima Trinidad, located in the province of Sancti Spíritus, is one of the most beautiful and prestigious Catholic temples in Cuba. Considered also the largest in Trinidad, this Church treasures valuable works of the island’s religious artistic heritage.

After 75 years of construction, it was inaugurated on February 15, 1892 by Bishop Manuel Santander, whose architectural style is one of the richest in the country, similar to that of other neoclassical buildings.

It has five naves and inside it stands altars of precious woods in which stand out images such as those of the Christ of the Vera Cruz, a colossal piece considered as miraculous and to which special devotion is rendered, and the Christ of Humility and Patience.

Likewise, there is a unique altar of Gothic style dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy, to whom visitors pay their sincerest homage.

The Church, located in front of the Plaza Mayor de Trinidad, displays three luxurious bells called Santísima Trinidad, Mayor and Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, which dazzle the visitor with their imposing majesty.

This temple of the Trinitarian people is a meeting point for national and foreign visitors, who visit its interior admiring the architectural, aesthetic and religious beauty of one of the most formidable works of Cuban heritage.
