Almost every person who visits Cuba is attracted by its charms: tobacco, coffee and rum. But where to acquire them? Where to taste them and know about their history? Different places offer this possibility without risk of imitations. This is the case of Partagás Royal Tobacco Factory. A construction located on Industria Street, Centro Habana, at the bottom of Havana Capitol. The year 1845, on the facade of the factory, marks the date of the founding of Partagás cigar brand. This building was its headquarters from the beginning of XX century in the middle of the boom that experimented the tobacco industry. Colonial style, it is the oldest tobacco factory in Cuba and for the cigar fan, an essential visit.
“Flor de Tabacos de Partagás” is one of the oldest brands in Havana. From its beginnings, Partagás has accumulated a great prestige, for its strong cigars and with great body aroma. They have more than forty models registered in the catalog, at least twenty of these models are considered of superior quality, such as Lusitanias and Robustos.
The process of producing Cuban tobacco is exciting. It begins by being cultivated in the country-side of Cuba. Peasants master the art of harvesting, drying, preserving and twisting it. They are willing to make a demonstration of the making of tobacco. The factories receive the product to finish it.
The Partagás Royal Tobacco Factory produces almost half of the cigars manufactured in Havana. The other half is distributed among five other factories. In the store of the factory can buy and taste different types of habanos and also buy diverse souvenirs. It is expected soon to restart the tours inside the factory so that the visitors witness the process of elaboration by hand and know the history of the tobacco in Cuba.
